Game Day

If your Character is Selected to Compete in the Crucible…

If your backstory and character are selected, you will be contacted via email to verify that you are still interested in being a contestant on Crucible of Fate.

Preparing for Game Day

If so, then we will mutually arrange a time to meet via Zoom video chat (Around a week before the episode is filmed) to test the quality of your internet connection and webcam, discuss your character, discuss the flow of the episode and to ensure the rules of the game are clearly understood. You will sign a waiver that basically states that you release the events that transpire during the show and make no claim to ownership of any aspect of the show. Once the waiver is signed, and you agree to participate in Crucible of Fate, then I will send you an invite to join the upcoming Crucible of Fate Episode “Campaign” in D&D Beyond so that you can create your character with access to my sourcebooks through content sharing.

At this time, you will also receive a welcoming gift from your most gracious host. This gift is generated by rolling for a random magic item from Magic Item Table B in the 5E DMG while we are on the call together. This item can then be added to your character sheet in D&D Beyond and no one but you and I will know what item you acquired. This adds an additional layer of mystery to every character and will help prepare you for the trials you will face in the Crucible. At this point, no further changes can be made to your character unless cleared with me.

Using D&D Beyond

To ensure all rolls are made fairly, all contestants will join the D&D Campaign and will have to make their rolls using D&D Beyond. During gameplay, I will be using the D&D Beyond Combat Tracker and will be showing the rolls of all contestants by using the Game Log in the recording of each episode.

Arriving at the Fate’s Hand Tavern

On the scheduled day of the filming of the episode, all contestants are expected to join the Zoom call on time. This time is scheduled to provide contestants and DM some time to review rules, resolve character issues, answer questions and get to know one another before we begin filming and/or livestreaming. This will allow for enough time to test webcams, microphones, and internet connections of all participants and also to ensure that virtual/remote contestants can clearly hear music, sound and can communicate clearly with the Host and other players.
